Jamila Ajibade

Jamila hails from Kalamazoo, Michigan, where, at the tender age of 14, she began competing and winning State and National Vocal competitions taking Supreme Honors. Jamila is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. While earning her degree, she landed major roles in local and regional productions in such musicals as “Jesus Christ Superstar” in which she portrayed Mary Magdalene; “The Wiz” in which she portrayed Dorothy; “Ain’t Misbehavin” in which she portrayed Armelia, as well a major production of the Opera, “The Consul” in which she portrayed The Secretary.

In 1991 she moved to Los Angeles and took 1st Place in the Jazz category of the Herron Record’s North Las Vegas International Record Expo. Her love for Broadway show tunes soon led her to Disney’s, first ever, live production of “Aladdin, A Musical Spectacular” where she shinned as, The Narrator. Still pursuing greater exposure, Jamila was hired as the newest member of the Legendary and world renowned group “The 5th Dimension.” Jamila has starred as Aida in Elton John’s and Tim Rice’s “Aida” in Los Angeles. Currently she is traveling all over the world as one of the most favored Headliner acts performing for such Cruise Liners as Royal Caribbean, Azamara, and Princess just to name a few. Industry executives and audiences alike are raving about Jamila’s R&B Soul, her Jazz prowess, her Broadway expertise and her Operatic discipline.
