featuring Donzaleigh Abernathy, John Wesley Wright and special guest Larry Strayhorn
Saturday, August 1, 2009

Woodruff Arts Center
This extraordinary concert will honor the work of Billy Strayhorn, the African-American composer of such classics as "Take the A-Train," "Satin Doll," "Lush Life" and many other tunes made famous by Duke Ellington. Shimmering arrangements by the great pianist and arranger Alan Broadbent for male voices are woven together by characters of the women who were closest to the composer, including Lena Horne and Ruth Ellington Boatwright. The concert will feature guest star Donzaleigh Abernathy and promises to be a highlight of Atlanta's summer musical events!
